Yachting Queensland Junior / Youth Sailing Camp

 

The Yachting Queensland Junior and Youth Camp will be held prior to Sail Brisbane at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron from 6-8 December (inclusive). Coaches for the camp will be Mark Tonner-Joyce and Lauren Jeffries. All dinghy classes are invited with youth classes strongly encouraged. Partnerships Help Protect Marine Park

 

Australian and Queensland Government agencies and regional natural resource management bodies have teamed up in a new partnership focussing on water quality monitoring and reporting.

This collaboration is a key part of the Reef Water Quality Protection Plan (Reef Plan), a 10-year strategy to halt and reverse the decline in the quality of water entering the Marine Park.

Navy Lifestyle Internet Site

 

The Royal Australian Navy has unveiled its newest weapon in the fierce battle for trade apprentices today - the Navy Lifestyle Internet site.

 

Prospective recruits will benefit from this website that uses computer animation to showcase a typical "day in the life" of a sailor on board an Anzac Class frigate.

Navy Initiative – Extreme Battleships Internet Game

Battleships Extreme was launched on 21 SEPT 2006. The game can only be played through Ninemsn (Windows Live) Messenger. The purpose of the game is to generate interest in Navy Careers. The Australian Defence Force is the first advertiser in the world to build a messenger game as a marketing tool. As such Ninemsn have given Defence free media for the first three months of the game and may extend this indefinitely if the game proves popular. Snorkel Opens Underwater World for Asthmatics

 

A snorkel built to carry an inhaler could open up a whole new undersea world for asthmatics.

 

The Australian-developed MediDive Asthma Freedom Snorkel houses the puffer cannister within a silicon chamber attached to the mask, giving asthma sufferers easy access to medication at the press of a button.

USA – Australia Americas Cup Rematch Off

 

The much anticipated rematch between 'Big Bad' Dennis Conner and Australia's John Bertrand, who famously took the America's Cup from the New York Yacht Club's skipper in 1983, is not going to happen at next week's 2006 Audi Etchells Worlds in Fremantle.

 

The Chairman of the Race committee Brian Thornley today has confirmed that Conner has pulled out of the regatta for undisclosed health reasons.
