Yachting Australia Agree to Adopt a New Direction in Affiliation and Capitation
The Yachting Australia Federal Assembly Meeting was held recently in Melbourne.  The assembly agreed to adopt modifications to the national affiliation and capitation model.  Yachting Queensland recognises this as a step forward in addressing affiliation and capitation on a national scale.  It is currently considered possible that this new fee structure could be adopted as early as the 2006/2007. Yachting Queensland will keep Queensland clubs informed as developments unfold.

Townsville Successfully Change to Winter Sailing Season The Townsville Sailing Club season commenced on Sunday July 17, just two months after the conclusion of the 2004/ 2005 competition.  The first race in the championship series marked the beginning of the ‘wedge season’ following a unanimous decision at June’s annual general meeting to switch the competition from summer to winter. The wedge season will take place from July to November before the 2006 contest kicks off in March.   The season switch from summer to winter seems to have paid off for the Townsville Sailing Club which enjoyed a successful opening round at which almost 30 boats turned out.
