Enrol Now! YQ Junior training Camp – Mooloolaba

Take your sailing skills to the next level at Mooloolaba this winter.  The YQ Camp is open to all sailors with racing experience who wish to improve their skills and knowledge.  National coach Marty Watson will be in attendance at the camp on the 23rd and 24th of June.  See www.qldyachting.org.au or Ph 33936788 for full information.

Enrol Now! YQ Central Region Junior Sailing Camp – Bundaberg

Organised by the Central Region Development Committee, this event promises to be a rewarding three days of fun.  With coaches Martin Watson and Ben Callard in attendance all sailors will be staying on site.  Mark June 17- 20th on the calendar and phone Paul Effeney Ph 4938 3173 to reserve your place.

Winter Hots Up at Mooloolaba

The three major events at the Mooloolaba are set to keep Mooloolaba Yacht Club warm this winter. The Etchell Winter Championships, the Dingy Winter Series and a YQ training Camp will all be held at Mooloolaba Yacht Club between the 10th – 26th June.  Check out www.mooloolabayachtclub.com for full information.

56 Boats Compete at May Day Regatta - Keppel Bay

Keppel Bay Sailing Club made the most of the traditional Labour Day weekend with a huge weekend of sailing involving over 55 boats.

The event featured the F18 State Titles, the Arrow State Titles, The Sharpie State Titles and the infamous Dash for Cash.  The light conditions played havoc with the fleet, with a south-easterly change blowing in on Monday, twelve hours after sailing had completed.

The results of the event enable multiple new state champions being crowned.

F 18 State Titles – “Freeball” Brad Collett & Lucas MacDonald
Arrow State Titles – “Air Power II” – Darryl Skinner
Sharpie State Titles – “Spent” – Sarah Lawrence, Rick Machan, Damian Byrt

Yachting Queensland General Meeting

Delegates from Queensland yacht clubs gathered for the Yachting Queensland General Meeting on Thursday night.  Items on the agenda included the Yachting Australia Third Party Insurance Proposal, the Youth Programs under development and Capitation.  Please contact your club delegate if you would like more information.

Free Workshop - Disabled Sailing at Your Club

Disabled sailing is steadily growing as sailing clubs are recognising the benefits of being involved.  A Disability Education Workshop is being held on Monday night the 16th of May 6pm at the Yachting Queensland Manly Office.  The benefits of disabled sailing to your yacht club will be discussed together with marketing strategies and the attitudes to disability.

Changes Announced to Coastal Weather Wind Warnings


A review has been undertaken to improve the format and content of coastal waters wind warnings
. The result is a new coastal waters wind warning service for the boating community that is consistent across Australia.  Please visit www.bom.gov.au to investigate the positive changes.
