New Board Members Yachting Queensland would like to welcome our two new Board members, Odile Anderson and Phil Smailes. Both Odile and Phil have been active in the boating community for many years and bring new ideas and enthusiasm to Yachting Queensland.
Goodbye & Good luck to Horrie Hunt With the arrival of Odile Anderson and Phil Smailes to the Yachting Queensland board, we say farewell to long-standing board member Horrie Hunt. Horrie has been an active board member on and off over the last twenty years. Horrie remains Yachting Queensland's chief IRC measurer, travelling up and down the Queensland coast whenever required.
Yachting Queensland board and staff would like to thank Horrie for his contribution to Yachting Queensland and boating in Queensland and wish him all the very best in the future.
Speaking of Board Members...... Yachting Queensland board member Paul Effeney came into the Yachting Queensland office this week and fell into a chair. Worried staff asked Paul why he was so exhausted. It seems that Paul had a very good reason, as he had just calculated that he visited five different clubs in the past seven days! First there was Harvey Bay Sailing Club, then Maryborough Sailing Club followed by Port Curtis and Keppel Bay. Finally Paul was at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron to run a coaching clinic for Yachting Queensland bringing the tally up to five clubs! YQ staff congratulated Paul on his journey over the past week and wondered how many he would visit next week.
RSML "BoatSafe" Update Yachting Queensland is busy working with Queensland Transport to move all current RSML Agents in Queensland across to the new competency-based "BoatSafe" scheme. All is running smoothly. Thank you to all agents who have completed the necessary paperwork.
Yachting Queensland Courses A quick note to all clubs. If you are interested in running a Yachting Australia course such as Safety Boat Endorsement, Instructor Courses or Race Management please contact the office on 07 3393 6788. There will be an Instructor Course and a Safety Boat course held in Brisbane early in 2005. Interested participants please contact the YQ office to register your interest or find out more information.
