Due to overwhelming demand Yachting Queensland has announced a Rules Night with International Judge and Race Officer Mark Pryke.  The session is to be held at Yachting Queensland, Manly on Friday 20 April 2007, all members are invited. Race Officers Seminar
 
Following the Rules Night, a two-day seminar is being held for all experienced race officers with the desire to obtain a National or State level Race Officials’ Qualification. Contact Yachting Queensland for enrolment forms and to check seminar prerequisites or alternatively download the information from the Yachting Queensland website.

2007 IRC State Championships
 
The 2007 State IRC Championships will be held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February 2007 at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. The Regatta is open to all monohull yachts that are on the register of a recognised sailing club. Entries close 5pm Friday 23rd February 2007 – follow the link below to the Notice of Race and Entry Form.

Change of Management for Yachting Queensland
 
Please be advised that as of the 28th February Bruce Chapman will be leaving Yachting Queensland and therefore will resign as the Executive Officer.
 
Yachting Queensland would like to thank Bruce for his time and contribution in his position of Executive Officer.
 
The board has selected Mr Norman Fry as the new Executive Officer commencing the 1st of March.

Queenslanders Number One In The World
 
For the first time in yachting history a Queensland 470 Team has been ranked number one in the world. Mat Belcher and Nick Behrens after 2nd place at the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta have taken the number one spot. Both Mat and Nick represent Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. This takes the team one step closer to the Olympics in China. Matt and Nick will be home in Queensland waters for a few weeks before they take off to Europe to compete for the number one spot in the Australian Olympic Team selection Regatta's. New HPP Coach in Queensland
 
Yachting Australia has employed a High Performance Coach for Queensland. Adrian Finglas has joined the team with the view to improving the performance of youth sailors.
 
 
2007 Australian Yachting Awards
 
Nominations for the 2007 Australian Yachting Awards will open on February 1st and close on March 31st. Nominations require supporting citations and photographs. Achievements should be between 1 April 2006 and 15 March 2007 except for Services & Media Awards.

Mucking Around In Muddy Mangroves
 
20 James Cook University student teachers will be swapping the classroom for the coastline.
They are undertaking professional development with the Reef HQ Education Team to learn more about mangroves, rocky shorelines, seagrass beds and beachfront communities.
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Education Manager Fred Nucifora said the training would increase their confidence in taking students on excursions to the coast.
