Race Officers Seminar
Following the Rules Night, a two-day seminar is being held for all experienced race officers with the desire to obtain a National or State level Race Officials’ Qualification. Australian Youth Olympic Festival
Congratulations to the AYOF Queensland team who have just returned from competing against teams from other states as well as international competitors and achieved 6th place, narrowly missing 5th due to a count back. YQ Award Nominations Reminder
**Nominations for the YQ Annual Awards are due by 4pm Friday, February 9 2007**
Winners of the 2005-2006 Yachting Queensland Annual Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the Yachting Queensland General Meeting in April. Awards will be presented to 2005-2006 award recipients at their club presentation night where possible.

2007 IRC State Championships
The 2007 State IRC Championships will be held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February 2007 at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. The Regatta is open to all monohull yachts that are on the register of a recognised sailing club. Tribute to Koomooloo
Koomooloo, the 1968 Sydney to Hobart winner sprung a leak in six metre seas and 30 knot winds, 60 miles off Narooma on the second morning of the 2006 Rolex Sydney Hobart race and issued a MAYDAY at 9:30am. Mike Freebairn and his father Don had spent the last ten years restoring the Kaufman-designed 41-footer to her former glory, it was for the family their life, and it was a gut wrenching decision to abandon the sinking boat. Mike talks about the loss of Koomooloo.

These reports are used by management agencies to learn more about threats affecting marine mammals and turtles in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
