Government Funding For QLD Clubs
In 2004 19 clubs affiliated to Yachting Queensland recieved government funding grants totalling $174 000.
The clubs that received this money did not simply receive it by putting in an application. The application needs to be supported by Yachting Queensland, however more imporatant is the fact that Yachting Queensland are continually working to keep sailing and boating in front of the government.
This is a continual and imporant role that Yachting Queensland undertakes. We speak regulary with a number of government departments about our sport. In these high level discussions we contunally demonstrate to various departments within the government that by them assisting us we are able to drive the sport of boating. This is achieved in a variety of ways, whether through marine studies students and power boating in schools through to courses at yacht clubs or governance issues within thr national framework.
To maintain the ability for the sport to be able to attract funding we must continue to be seen as continuously developing as a front-runner in sport administration in this state.
